WBT201 Release Notes

The WBT-201 or G-Rays 2 uses a completely different command set from the WBT-200/100. I anticipate that WBT-201 support will be included in the next gpsbabel release.

The WBT-201 supports waypoints. When reading from a WBT-201 you must now supply the -w and/or -t options to gpsbabel. For backwards compatibility these are still not required when downloading from a WBT-200. This may change in the future to make WBT-200 behaviour consistent.

For early adopters here's a patch against gpsbabel 1.3.4-beta20070415 which supports the WBT-201:

I've also built a couple of binaries:

Unfortunately I don't have a Windows machine at the moment so I'm not able to build a Win32 binary, but you can find "third party" binaries at WBT-201.

[edit] Release Notes

This release:

  • adds support for the Wintec WBT-201 / G-Rays 2
  • supports tracks and waypoints (you'll need to use -t and/or -w on your gpsbabel command line)
  • allows tracks and waypoints to be downloaded and the device erased

Not currently supported:

  • access to a password protected WBT-201. I will add this but I'm keen to get the main download code tested - hence this release
  • general device configuration

[edit] Credits

Thanks are due to Semsons for providing three different Wintec units for testing. In my experience they're a great company to deal with. If you're buying a WBT-200 or 201 I would recommend checking them out.

[edit] Donate!

Not to me - to the gpsbabel project. Robert tells me that although there are thousands of Mac users downloading gpsbabel he's had very little support from the Mac community. So if you find gpsbabel useful please donate a small amount of money to help support the project.
