[edit] Tracking current position

gpsbabel contains an experimental Realtime tracking feature: http://www.gpsbabel.org/htmldoc-1.3.3/tracking.html Unfortunately it is not suppored yet for input type "wbt". But you can directly use the NMEA output of Wintec. For instance if you use bluetooth connection bind /dev/rfcomm0 on Linux just type cat /dev/rfcomm0 to see the output. To use WBT for tracking the current position in different applications, you should use the gpsd. There is a simple but useful GUI called xgps and there are bindungs for several programming languages, for instance C, python and Perl -- Jakob 14:40, 17 June 2007 (BST)

[edit] Password protection

I'm on a MacBook Pro (intel) and have tried using the patched GPSBabel. I get the error "WBT-100/200: Bad response from unit". Any ideas why?

Problem Solved!
First, Andy kicks ass! Very helpful guy.
You can't use GPSBabel with a GPS unit that has a password set. Once I removed the password (using the Timemachine X software that came with the Wintec WBT-201), GPSBabel worked like a charm.

[edit] Request: Sample Data

I would like to contribute filters for my Motorola A780 (running Copilot). I started writing data conversion filters - but need to be pointed to some sensible output format. Possibly the easiest way was to convert my data to the wintec format.

Please provide some sample data.
