[tapx-dev] Feeling slow :(

Feeling slow is a bit of a pun.  I feel stupid about not immediately
seeing the problem and the tests are running slower.  My I/O fix to not
show every single test number in non-verbose mode doesn't seem to be
working now.  As a result, tests are running slower.

If no one has immediate thoughts, I'll try to look into this later.
