Thank you Mike Harrison! Your theory really works.
And you can see in iTunes, whatever you are downloading, says how many gigs it is trying to download. My movie was 2.13 and i only had IE6. I changed to IE8 and everything worked out nicely!

I only wish that iTunes would tell you that...

Had same problem on two different computers running Windows XPwith IE6. Solved on both with upgrade from IE6 to IE8 . fyi... the exact symptom in my case was extremely slow downloading movie file > 2 GB for several hours, followed by the 9006 error. Thanks Mike Harrison for posting solution. Two e-mails and one phone call to Apple tech support failed to uncover this simple issue.

Upgrade to IE8 is the key. Worked like a charm (after many hours of trying other stuff.) Thanks, Mike Harrison, for the suggestion.

After adding *.apple.com to your safe sites list, you have to restart iTunes, otherwise it doesn't work.
Thanks for this help guys!

The internet explorer upgrade from 6 to 8 fixed my problem. Great!!! Thank you. I already tried many things. Glad I've found finally a solution ... couldn't believe it at first. ... but I was desperate! ;-)

I find it very hard to believe this is simply a matter of IE not being able to meet iTunes' downloading size requirements. I've been using Firefox for years, though I still have IE 7 installed in my PC running Vista 64 bit. Until about three weeks ago, I never had any problem downloading podcasts via iTunes. Now, suddenly, every podcast I try to download gets halfway through then dies, leaving only an error 9006 or error 3259 in its wake. Like everyone else here, I've emptied out the .tmp files in my music folder. I've added apple.com to my trusted sites. I'm not connecting via a proxy or operating behind a firewall, etc. WTF is going on?
