SORY seems to be the hardest word

soryelectronics.pngThe folks over at Sory Electronics have taken my T shirt design and run with it. The result: soryelectronics.com - a call to boycott Sony. Just do it.

In related news Cory Doctorow is reporting over at BoingBoing that Sony have issued a ‘non-apology’ - way to go Sony. You know Sony really should be taking this a bit more seriously - after all Cory seems to be the hardest nerd.

Er, sory.

Yeah - I was more than a bit put off by that. It’s so bland and never says “we screwed up”. They make it sound like a minor bad business choice and don’t say anything about not doing it again.

Yeah, way to go Sony, it now feels safer to download a album from the Internet than insert an Audio Media Disc (can’t call it a CD cos it ain’t) into my PC. Oh well, another 6 million CDs to be buried at the local landfill. Let’s hope the rest of the industry takes notice. Once users find they can’t use the music they purchased how they want, they’ll download a version they can. Perhaps the moral minority or the dumb might also purchase a copy (that they can’t play) - but I doubt it’ll be enough to keep the shareholders interested. BTW: anyone know how much cash these copy-protection companies made from signing up record labels? Would be fun to see a cost-benefit analysis…

Mark Russonovich should be a name of a movie, like Erin Brokovich. Unfortunately the latter is made by Sory.
